Today, Governor Ron DeSantis signed Senate Bill 102, known as the “Live Local Act,” a comprehensive, statewide workforce housing strategy designed to increase the availability of attainable housing options for Florida workers who seek to live in the communities they serve.
The Bill passed both Senate and the House with unanimous votes, and is expected to expedite construction of more affordable units, fund housing efforts by more than $1 billion, expand tax exemptions for developers, and broaden zoning requirements. “We’re never going to be able to provide housing for everybody,” said Senate President Kathleen Passidomo (R-Naples). “But right now we’re in a crisis and we’ve got to do something particularly for the missing middle, the people that make too much to qualify for the current programs and too little to actually be able to afford a place to live.”
The Bill received support from many state and local real estate organizations, including Florida Realtors. President Mike McGraw and Florida Realtors CEO Margy Grant issued a joint statement regarding this legislation becoming law.
“Thank you to Governor Ron DeSantis, Senate President Kathleen Passidomo, House Speaker Paul Renner, Senator Alexis Calatayud and Representative Demi Busatta Cabrera for their leadership and hard work in making this historic affordable housing initiative a reality. Far too many hard-working Floridians need help to afford to live in a home near where they work. SB 102 tackles this problem in a multi-faceted way that will make the dream of homeownership possible for more Floridians and lower the cost of rents throughout the state.”

Affordable housing for the middle class is quite an accomplishment!
Agree with Leonard’s comment above. Also, I have been working with developers on the plan to create low cost veterans housing in Sumter Country nearby The Villages.
Who will be the developers in accomplish this task?
