President Joe Biden announced that he is discontinuing his re-election campaign and offered his endorsement of Vice President Kamala Harris to become the Democratic Party’s nominee for president.
The 81-year-old Biden added that he would remain as president for the remainder of his term, which expires in January. Biden has been in seclusion at his beach home in Rehoboth, Delaware, after contracting Covid-19 last week. His announcement was made on social media, and it is unclear when or if Biden will make a public appearance to explain his decision.
Biden has come under intense pressure from Democratic Party elected officials, left-leaning media and prominent donors to withdraw from the nomination after his disastrous performance at last month’s debate against former President Donald Trump. Polling from multiple sources affirmed that Biden’s chances for re-election were evaporating after the debate.
But despite Biden’s endorsement, Harris is not guaranteed to become his replacement as the Democratic nominee for president. The Democratic National Convention begins on Aug. 19 in Chicago, and it is uncertain whether the party’s leaders will embrace Harris’ candidacy or seek another process to nominate another person.
For the real estate industry, Biden’s exit leaves unanswered questions on whether Harris would continue Biden’s advocacy for new tax credits for first-time homebuyers and rent caps for certain rental housing properties. While the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development repeatedly refers to the “Biden-Harris Administration” in its press statements, Harris has rarely made any speeches or public comments related to housing.

Give me a break. I know that the Democratic Party has been grooming Gavin Newsome for
Presidency since January, 2024. They are just waiting for the Convention to nominate him.
Gavin Newsom’s ex-wife is currently the fiancée of Donald Trump Jr. This should be interesting.
Mark Warner for President.
Harris is awful, awful, awful. She would never in a million years get my vote!
As Harris is the nominee, now for sure i am not voting Dems anymore, She is horrible horrible horrible .
I am a Republican who is a Never – Trumper. They could put Neron’s Horse to run Against him, and the horse would get my vote!. Whowecer runs AGy Trump, will get my vote no matter what!
Could you possibly put your feelings about Trump aside and think about the state of America? We are in trouble. We may not survive another 4 years of Democrat policies.
Agree Donna.
I will say Trump did more for our country when he was President and the Dems destroyed it all, we need 4 more years of Trump, then hopefully JD for the next 8 years to weed out most of the swamp
President Biden’s term does not end until January 21, 2025. That is nearly six (6) more months to work on his agenda. If nominated, Kamala Harris will be a good president in my view. It is not just the president that makes up the executive branch, but also the people she admits to her administration and cabinet. At least 11 people who played a role in Trump’s presidential campaigns or his administration have been charged with crimes. Some will be back if Trump is elected. John McEntee, a dating app CEO, who rose to the title of director of White House personnel at the end of Trump’s term, is working on making sure only Trump sycophants make into Trump’s administration if elected.
Anyone who would vote for any Democrat after the disaster of the last 3+ years should have their brain examined.
Anybody else feeling caught between the devil and the deep blue sea? Still, I’m glad Biden is stepping down but Kamala will not get my vote. Nor Trump! Ughh.
Now maybe we will see if Biden’s programs can stand on their own merits!
Harris will continue Biden’s policies, plus making them worse. Vote policies, not people, my friend…it’s policies that drive the country. You might not like Trump, but against Harris? We’re doomed if she gets in…just imagine our enemies delight.
Regarding policy, the Trump tax cuts did not benefit homeowners in blue states. The SALT deductions cap which is not spoken about lately did have a negative impact on the housing in the high-priced states. The Biden administration should have reversed the policy which is supposed to expire next year. In comparison, more tax cuts on the backs of the middle class will not have any benefits for future middle-class homeowners.
