The resort town of Ocean City, Maryland, is suing the federal Bureau of Ocean Energy Management (BOEM) regarding the US Wind offshore project.
The US Wind project involves the construction of 114 offshore wind turbines 10.7 miles off of Ocean City’s coast – the turbines are 938 feet tall and town officials have raised concern that having these installations off the coastline would negatively impact the view shed, local environment, tourism industry, and the fishing community.
The lawsuit is being taken with support by several local business organizations including the Coastal Association of Realtors, the Hotel-Motel-Restaurant Association, the Delmarva Community Managers Association, the Ocean City Development Corporation and the Greater Ocean City Chamber of Commerce. The Town Council of Fenwick Island and the Worcester County Commissioners are also involved.
The firm of Marzulla Law, which specializes in environmental and property rights litigation, will lead this crucial case by challenging the federal government’s approval process for the US Wind project.
“We have a responsibility to protect our ecosystem, our economy, view shed and our future,” said Ocean City Mayor Rick Meehan. “For the past seven and half years we have been trying to work with the State of Maryland and the federal government to address our concerns with this project. All of our concerns were either ignored or considered insignificant. It is unfortunate that it has come to this, but the Town was left with no choice but to file suit against BOEM and challenge their favorable record of decision on the US Wind project.”
Please do not let the court dismiss the case over lack of standing.
The wind turbines do a lot of damage to wildlife such as killing birds & in the sea – many whales, dolphins are either washing up dead or sick as these machines make noise that mess with their sonar migration senses. Plus the oil to keep these machines going is toxic to our sea waters. Climate change tree huggers are being fooled by so called eco friendly alternative energy that does more damage to the environment & is extremely costly.

The windmills and climate change are among the greatest scandals in history. Pure globalist corruption.

This is a problem that exists along the entire coast. We in Maine are also being completely ignored in these decisions. I am astounded that Audubon has taken sides with all these offshore wind turbines. Someone gave them a very big donation to make them ignore all the environmental threats that these huge and multiple turbines are causing.
Research what happened off of the coast of Cape Cod. One of the wind turbine blades broke apart putting fiberglass, etc into the sea which of course washed up on the shore.
