New York Gov. Kathy Hochul announced a Request for Proposals (RFP) for the redevelopment of a 12,800-square-foot state-owned property in Brooklyn.
The property in Brooklyn’s Clinton Hill neighborhood has been owned by the Office of Children and Family Services since 1997. Prior to its acquisition, the property served as a Brooklyn Union Gas showroom in 1912 and later housed manufacturing and commercial entities. According to the governor’s office, the building has been vacant for nearly three decades due to “structural issues.”
Hochul envisions the site becoming a mixed-use, 100% affordable housing development. RFP applications must be submitted to the Empire State Development agency by June 20 by 5:00 p.m. EDT.
“After decades of sitting vacant, we’re breathing new life into this property and delivering what New Yorkers need most: affordable housing and community amenities,” Hochul said. “This project represents our commitment to addressing the housing crisis while ensuring development reflects the priorities of local residents. By transforming underutilized state-owned property into vibrant, sustainable homes, we’re making good on our promise to create more affordable homes across New York State.”

When anyone mentions “affordable housing” you can bet socialist corruption is coming. LOL, he/she will get 20%. The DNC will get 20%. USAID will pump billions into the pockets of NY Democrats and things will get even worse. Crime will go up and they will blame guns while they become billionaires on politician salaries. Why does anyone still live in New York? I am surrounded by refugees from blue schitholes like New York and I feel sorry for them. Trump needs to clean up the blue cities and states so the people don’t have to flee for their lives like my new neighbors. Get rid of all Democrat politicians (and RINIOs too) and corruption will end.
The person at “We the People” makes some good points but there are others here. 1st, Jesus said that you will always have the poor with you. No matter how many billions we throw at it the poor will not go away. We can give them all the money and services they need but there will always be a segment that won’t work, will pursue leisurely things like games on TV’s, computers & cell phones and some that find the criminal way more appealing. This is with taxes skyrocketing on the working, middle and upper classes. The “moral dilemma” would create ungrateful persons and lazy ones to boot. The poor have to live somewhere. So where will that be? Subsidized housing could help and this sounds like a reasonable land use for this long vacant building. Yes, some politicians will get some kind of “under the table” benefits. It happens on every government level and with every party. Most politicians are relatively honest but there are many that are not. The percentage, who knows? I would rather see our welfare dollars go into robust housing and medical care for the poor. I’d like to see Snap (food stamps) and aid to mother with dependent children being scaled back significantly. If we can house poor people at a low rent payment and provide them with free or nearly free medical care then they should take care of the rest of life’s costs. Of course, I’m for DNA testing at birth with the father being held financing responsible to raise that child. The government besides of churches, synagogues and mosques and private charities will always be needed to help those that can’t help themselves or won’t help themselves. Yes, nearly every poor area is ridiculed with crime. No peaceful loving person wants their neighborhood or area to feel scary day or night. The Democrats for the most part fail miserably in creating and maintaining safe areas. The Republicans do a slightly better job but in order to really reduce crime you need increase police presence at a high level and incarcerate more people. Not easy political decisions to get implemented. Levels of crime are a major factor in all property values. Money flows to areas of stability and growth. I could, like most intelligent people, go on and on in these matters. Nearly everyone has a cause and solutions. Our democratic process ends up with a patch work of policies that will never solve these on going problems.
Everything with politicians or back door associations/associates who say there is a “crisis” are the laundry system rinse wash repeat…
Where are the trillions of not for profits? The churches don’t help people anymore..
it used to be friends and neighbors renting a hall and bringing pot luck dinners and gifts as raffles to raise money for a family that had a terrible thing happen to them.. like a loss of a spouse or a bad injury effecting the family..
not the govt..
as the statement of “poor”in the Bible.. that does not mean financially broke.. it means poor in “mind, body and soul”….one who cannot look themselves in the mirror and liking what you see on the inside and out of that reflection.
