Luxury real estate brokers Tal and Oren Alexander and their brother Alon were convicted on federal sex trafficking charges.
According to combined media reports, the brothers were found guilty after a five-week trial in which prosecutors called 10 rape accusers to testify against the Alexanders. The accusers claimed they were drugged, groped or raped by the brothers between 2008 and 2021.
None of the women previously reported the Alexanders to the police. But investigations into the brothers began in June 2024 when accuser Kate Whiteman filed a civil lawsuit accusing Alon and Oren of raping her at a Hamptons estate. Whiteman’s lawsuit led to other civil lawsuits and a federal investigation that resulted in the brothers being arrested in December 2024.
More than 60 women say they were raped by one or more of the brothers, according to prosecutors, with the attacks occurring at vacation resorts in the US and on a Caribbean cruise.
Tal and Oren Alexander were brokers at Douglas Elliman before starting their own firm Official in 2022. Alon Alexander is an executive with the family’s private security firm. The brothers are the sons of high-profile Miami developer Shlomy Alexander.
The Alexanders’ attorneys attempted to convince the jury that the accusations against the brothers did not meet the legal definition of sex trafficking. Deanna Paul, a lawyer for Tal Alexander, stated, “The government wants you to be so horrified by some of the testimony that you forget what they have to prove.”
The Alexanders face the possibility of life in prison. Sentencing has yet to be scheduled.
