The body of a high-profile Toronto-area real estate broker who was reported missing earlier this month has been identified.
The Toronto Star reported Yuk-Ying (Anita) Mui was last heard from by her family on the morning of Aug. 9; Mui’s vehicle, a white 2024 Mercedes-Benz SUV, was located later in the day in a Scarborough parking.
Burned human remains that were found three days later in Parry Sound, a town in Ontario in the Toronto area, have been identified as Mui, who was 56 at the time of her death. Police say three teen males — a 17-year-old from Whitby, a 17-year-old from Toronto and a 16-year-old from Toronto — were found in possession of property belonging to Mui. The teens were charged with weapon and fraud offenses but were not charged with Mui’s death, although York Regional Police said the teens were considered persons of interest in the ongoing homicide investigation. Two of the teens were released on bail while the third is awaiting a bail hearing.
Mui was affiliated with Century 21 Atria and her real estate listings included luxury homes, retail properties and large-scale industrial sites. She was active in the Chinese-Canadian business community and was a prominent figure at fundraisers and galas, where she was photographed with local and provincial political leaders. Her Instagram page said she was honored as being among the top 10 Century 21 realtors in Canada and in the top 1% at her firm.
