Buffalo Bills fans will be able to own parts of Highmark Stadium, which is being shuttered as the team prepares to move into a new $2.1 billion stadium in the fall.
TMZ reports the Bills has contracted the sports memorabilia company CollectibleXchange to sell different parts of the stadium to fans. Prices start at $549 for one seat and chunks of turf, while goalposts cost $100.
New products will be made available every few weeks during the year, with some items being posted for auction and others being made available for direct purchase. Brandon Steiner, CEO of CollectibleXchange, observed there has already been a high volume of inquiries for the trough urinals from the stadium’s men’s rooms.
“People want those troughs,” he said. “They want that kind of stuff, so we’ll make that available … you’re talking about Buffalo, and people take a lot of pride in the stadium.”
The Bills played at Highmark Stadium since 1973, with their last regular season game being held on Jan. 4. The stadium is scheduled to be demolished in 2027.
It is unclear how much money will be generated by the sales, but New York’s Erie County – which owns the stadium – will receive half of the proceeds, which will be used to pay for local initiatives.
