A four-bedroom historic saltbox home built in 1738 in Connecticut has been listed at $1.95 million.
The Marsh-Whitlock House is a four-bedroom, three-bedroom, 2,686-square-foot residence located on a 33-acre property in the town of Warren. The home is named for Ebenezer Marsh, who acquired the land in 1738, and Samuel Whitlock, who bought it in 1754 and whose family retained ownership into the 19th century. The property was a working farm until 1905, but the home was not insulated or electrified until 1975 – reportedly, property owner “Granny” Florence Doyle Carey, who lived there from 1937 to 1969, kept her horse Connie in the house during the winter to maintain the residence’s warmth.
The new listing is the third time in five years that the home is being sold. In January 2019, it changed hands for $1 million. The home changed hands again in September 2022 for $1.75 million.
