The New Mexico Association of Realtors (NMAR) has appointed David Saavedra as its new CEO.

Saavedra served as interim CEO since July. According to the Albuquerque Journal, Saaverda is NMAR’s fourth CEO in two-and-a-half years, following Rob Wigton’s six months of leadership; Lola Franklin, who assumed the role in July 2024; and Zachary Benjamin, took the job in June 2023.

Saavedra joined the association in 2022 as the head of advocacy and government affairs efforts. Before joining NMAR, he was a fiscal and policy analyst for the New Mexico Legislative Finance Committee. He received a master’s degree in public administration from the University of New Mexico in 2022 and a bachelor’s degree in public relations and communications in 2020.

“My dad was a homebuilder, so I grew up seeing how much a home can mean to a family and a community,” said Saavedra, a native of Grants, New Mexico. “That experience taught me early on that housing isn’t just about building structures and having a place to live; it’s about creating stability and opportunity for people.”
