The Ibiza mansion of soccer superstar Lionel Messi was vandalized by the extremist Spanish climate activist group Futuro Vegetal, which posted a video of their destructive antics on Instagram.

The New York Post reported the group broke into the property and sprayed it with black and red paint. They also opened a banner outside of its entrance that read: “Help the planet, eat the rich, abolish the police.” They also entered and vandalized the home and its garden.

Futuro Vegetal insisted the Argentine athlete’s residence was an “illegal construction” that contributed to the climate challenges of the region.

“The richest 1% of the population is responsible for the same amount of carbon emissions as the poorest two-thirds,” the group said. “We need a radical change of system to face the Climate Crisis.”

Messi, who plays for Inter Miami, was not at the property at the time of the assault and has not publicly commented. Argentina’s President Javier Milei denounced Futuro Vegetal as “communists who want to murder the rich and abolish the police to end climate change.”
