An oceanfront Florida estate at the center of a recent hoax story involving Ukraine’s president is going up for auction this Friday.
The Ponte Vedra Beach mansion was originally listed last July at $11.9 million, but it did not generate a sale. The property’s owners have contracted Platinum Luxury Auctions to conduct an online auction on Feb. 23 beginning at 5:00 p.m. EST, and the property will be sold to the highest bidder. The auction is being held without reserve.
The property is located on a 1.5-acre parcel and includes 200 feet of ocean frontage. The residence covers 12,750 square feet and includes six bedrooms, seven full baths and three half-baths. Its amenities include two gourmet kitchens, an executive office/study, a media room, a fitness center, a climate-controlled wine cellar that can accommodate more than 2,200 bottles, a private elevator, and a six-car garage.
Last December, the property was in the news when reports surfaced that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky purchased the property for $20 million. The story was traced to a social media post and was reported as false after fact-checking by USA Today and Newsweek.
“I can confirm the property has not been sold to Zelensky or to any other nation’s leader,” said David Ashcroft, Platinum’s managing director, who joked, “Perhaps the rumor’s author felt the property looked fit for a president.”
