An Illinois hospital that closed in 2023 after 120 years in operation is being put up for auction in a Chapter 11 bankruptcy sale.
The former St. Margaret’s Health Hospital in Spring Valley, Illinois, encompasses a five-story former hospital plus an adjacent two-story medical office. The hospital’s facilities include CT, x-ray and MRI rooms, cardio and surgery suites, OB/GYN delivery and recovery rooms and an ICU ward. Prior to its closure, the facility was licensed for 44 beds and a 19-bed senior housing wing.
The property is located 90 minutes from Chicago, 60 minutes from Peoria and 80 minutes from Rockford near the intersection of I-80 & I-39.
Hilco Real Estate Sales is coordinating the auction, which has a bid deadline of July 24 at 5:00 p.m. CDT.
“The layout and infrastructure that this building has in place should lend itself well for conversion into similar healthcare or other institutional use,” said Jamie Coté, vice president at Hilco Real Estate Sales. “This may also create jobs and stimulate economic growth in the region, as leveraging the talent pool of this area will ensure high-quality workers are available for whatever use becomes of the property.”
