Wisconsin recorded 6,282 existing home sales during October, a 3.5% year-over-year upswing from the 6,609 transactions recorded one year earlier.
According to data from the Wisconsin Realtors Association (WRA), the rising home sales occurred while the state’s housing inventory expanded. Last month, Wisconsin’s 20,641 total listings was an 8% increase from the 19,104 total listings recorded in October 2023.
“We’ve had consistent improvement in our listings beginning in November of last year, and the uptick in both new listings and total listings in October was a good sign,” said Tom Larson, WRA’s president and CEO. “Although months of inventory are tightest in our large cities, they are getting closer to being balanced in Wisconsin’s smaller urban areas and rural communities.”
Also rising was the median price, which rose 10.7% to $310,000 from the $280,000 median price from one year earlier.
WRA noted that on a year-to-date basis, closed sales rose 4.1% relative to the first 10 months of 2023 while the median price rose 8% over the same period.
