The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and Ginnie Mae are co-hosting a summit focusing on the impact of mortgage market liquidity on Americans’ access to affordable homeownership.
The Mortgage Market Resilience and Access to Credit Summit will take place in Washington, DC, on Oct. 15 at HUD headquarters and will also be made available for live online viewing.
The summit will include guest experts from the federal government, private sector, and housing industry to discuss the critical role of independent mortgage banks in the housing finance ecosystem. Among the scheduled speakers are Mike Patterson, chief operating officer at Freedom Mortgage; Bob Broeksmit, president and CEO of the Mortgage Bankers Association; and Michael Brown, managing director of global securitized products at JP Morgan Chase.
“We are committed to empowering Americans with the opportunities and resources needed to build their futures—especially in securing stable, affordable housing,” said HUD Acting Secretary Adrianne Todman. “Independent mortgage banks play a key role in making this a reality, and this summit will shine a spotlight on their essential contributions to our housing market.”
