Among the golfers participating in this year’s Masters Tournament in Augusta, Georgia, Brandon Holtz stands out – and not just because of his 6-foot-3, 250-pound frame, but because he is the only realtor among the players going for the green jacket.
The 39-year-old Holtz is a real estate agent with Remax Rising in Bloomington, Illinois. A former Division I basketball player, he is also among six amateurs entered in the Masters. Holtz earned a spot in the prestigious event by winning at Troon Country Club in Arizona in his first USGA championship appearance, and he is still happily surprised to find himself playing against the best in the sport.
“It’s hard to put in words, really,” he told ESPN. “I’m trying my best, but I’m still thinking I can’t believe I just played the first round of the Masters. At this point, I don’t have anything to lose. I never really had anything to lose.”
Well, he may have nothing to lose of the golf course, but Holtz hasn’t forgotten his day job.
“I gotta stay working,” he added. “I’ll have a listing going live next week and hope to get that sold.”
