While the executive leadership of the Chicago Bears have been focused on the potential relocation of their team out of Illinois to a site in Hammond, Indiana, most of the prognosticators in the predictive market Kalshi are betting the team doesn’t leave the state.
The Bears have begun geotechnical testing of the soil at the Wolf Lake Terminals site in Hammond as part of viability study for an Indiana venue. However, Sports Illustrated reports Kalshi’s NFL market favors at the Bears building a new stadium within Illinois at a 58% price, while a potential move to Indiana is priced at 37%.
Another 3% are confident the team will not relocate from their longtime how at Soldier Field, where their lease runs until 2023. This ignores repeated statements from the team that continued play at Soldier Field is out of the question.
Kalshi’s market on the Bears’ future stadium plans will operate for a maximum of two years until Week 1 of the 2028 NFL season. The market will grade when the team makes its final decision on where its new stadium will be based. Trading $10 profits $6.20 on them relocating to a new Illinois stadium, and $15.89 if they move to Indiana.
