Mariah Carey hit a decidedly off-key note in the effort to sell her Atlanta mansion.
According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, the Grammy-winning music star acquired her 4-acre property featuring a 12,575-square-foot residence with nine bedrooms and nine bathrooms in November 2021 in an off-market purchase of $5.65 million. Prior to her purchase, the home was a rental property and one of its tenants was Dwayne “The Rock” Johnson, who lived there while shooting a film in Atlanta.
Perhaps inspired by the glut of home flipping shows on HGTV, Carey put the property back on the market within a year for $6.5 million. Alas for the singer, her asking price was too high. Earlier this week, the property was purchased for a discounted $4.3 million by Michael Dickey, the CEO of the magazine publishing company Modern Luxury Media.
Obviously, Carey will need to wait for another six months before her “All I Want for Christmas” royalties will help cover the loss she incurred on the property.
