Oscar-nominated actor Mickey Rourke has started a GoFundMe campaign to encourage fans to help him stave off eviction.

Variety reports Rourke was served with an eviction notice last month on his Los Angeles home. Rourke owes approximately $60,000 on the home and has been ordered to leave if he fails to pay his debt.

The GoFundMe campaign is titled “Help Mickey Rourke Stay in His Home” and raised just under $20,000 since its launch on Jan. 4, with a goal of generating $100,000. The campaign noted Rourke’s career highlights from the 1980s and 1990s but also lamented that he has fallen on hard times.

“Fame does not protect against hardship, and talent does not guarantee stability,” the campaign page stated. “What remains is a person who deserves dignity, housing, and the chance to regain his footing.”
