“Million Dollar Listing Los Angeles” star Josh Flagg is part of the leadership team of a new media company focused on the real estate industry.
According to a Wall Street Journal report, Flagg has teamed with Griff O’Brien, a former content acquisition officer at Amazon and Roku, and Andrew Shanfeld, co-founder of real-estate private-equity firm Carolwood, to launch Estate Media. The start-up has already raised $1.65 million from investors including Upstate Shredding CEO Adam Weitsman, Morning Brew CEO Austin Rief and Avenue Growth Partners co-founder Brian Goldsmith.
Estate Media will offer newsletters, podcasts and video on social media platforms and its own website, which slated to go live later today, and it is planning to develop series for broadcast on TV, streaming or digital platforms. Flagg will host a “master class” for real estate agents that focuses on listings and closings.
“There wasn’t really a place for both the industry people of all levels, mortgage professionals, real-estate investors, and also the fans of this industry, to consume content that was video, audio and newsletter [that] was both entertaining and also educational and informative,” said O’Brien, who will be CEO of the new company. “This has been built in other niches, but it hadn’t been built in real estate.”
