Minnesota could experience a $1 billion increase in property taxes next year, with statewide levies reaching up to $14.6 billion, an increase of 6.9% from 2025.
Final property taxes will be determined by the end of the year, and it would be the highest increase of this decade if it holds. During 2025, Minnesota property taxes totaled around $13.7 billion in 2025. Five years earlier, that sum was around $10.9 billion.
TwinCities.com reports the forecast from the state’s is being fueled by increasing operational costs by Minnesota localities. Matt Hilgart, a lobbyist with the Association of Minnesota Counties, sought to put the blame on the tax hike on state and federal leaders.
“New mandates coupled with reductions in reimbursements to local governments — particularly counties — are creating this situation where we’re levying now to either hire people to fulfill a mandate that we’ve been told to do by the state or federal government,” he said. “It feels like we’re handcuffed.”

My fellow realtor, you have a skewed view of Republicans. Anyway, I know many Democrats who are ok with what happened during the Biden years and before. Immigration without assimilation is a big vice arching over Europe. We don’t have single-payer health care because we are a diverse nation with sophisticated knowledge of what can cure illness.
