The National Association of Realtors (NAR) has announced the appointment of interim CEO Nykia Wright as its new chief executive.
Wright became interim CEO last November. Her appointment makes history as the organization’s first woman and first Black chief executive.
Wright was formerly CEO of the Chicago Sun-Times and is co-founder of SonicMessenger, a software-as-a-service startup designed to measure audience engagement by leveraging smart audio. She serves on the boards of the American Cancer Society and the Better Government Association and is a member of the Dean’s Advisory Council at the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth, her alma mater.
Is she looking out for agents or how the board keeps us corralled and paying!
NAR really screwed the buyer
Technically, the buyer pays all the commission. Who are they trying to kid
I Suggest US Producing Agents, Call UP The “”PIF”” And Say This NAR Organization Is RIPE For The Picking and Revamping (Should Only Cost Them About $700-$900 Million In Start Up Costs) AND The Best Part, They Will NOT Have To PAY Any Legitimate Player To Switch AFFILIATIONS
The NAR Doesn’t Even OWN Realtor.com! Why Should They PRETEND To OWN Your Business! This Is A “Boston Tea Party Times”

What.are her goals for NAR moving forward.
Has she ever been an active Realtor? Buyers have a hard enough time generating the down payment and lender fess to buy a home..
It’s unfortunate the 1 person who knew where this NAR settlement was headed, allowed the attorneys to throw us all under the bus.
Their weak argument will only bring more heartache, and most likely arbitration and litigation as the low income and first time buyer is rejected even more, trying to compete with the mega corps and their huge cash reserves.
Some, who will need to finance a buyers agent compensation for 30 years smacks of big brother taking advantage of those most in need of help.
The NAR can try and spin this anyway they want, but the little guy and gal just got run over again.
Shame on them for rolling and making this business even more difficult, for buyers, sellers and agents.
NAR fees are not supposed to change for 2025-2026 … but what happens after ?
NAR sold us out. Afraid to fight the law suit. Got all the lawyers involved. Or it seems, they fixed it until they broke it !!!
What will she do differently.
I have no faith in her or anyone there.
Vultures!!
I am 50 + years a Realtor in three states – Calif – Nevada – Hawaii – this new rule about Buyers agreement is A lot of Bullcrap – I see litigation a go-go . Why mess with tradition . It’s downright idiotic. This business isn’t tuff enuff ?? Kiss my wrist.
Lloyd…you took the words right out of my mouth…NAR has done NOTHING to improve the business environment for its dues-paying members … but was able to fork over millions of those dollars to make a lawsuit go away … instead of FISGHTING FOR ALL OF US !
Hmm, interesting move amidst and this “change” and “disruption” we’re seeing already from NAR. Read her bio, she’s from liberal land Chicago and is “responsible for managing significant disruption, driving change, and implementing digital transformation.”
I wonder if NAR cares more about “change” and “disruption” than it does about benefiting Realtors and consumers. We’re in for a ride based on all the “change” we’ve seen already before she’s officially “permanent” CEO whatever that means. The intervention of government and politics in the real estate industry over the last few months has been absolutely shocking, and I’m expecting this is just the beginning. Serve your members NAR, not your political constituents.
100%. NAR does nothing
(The so-called settlement forgets that all real estate is LOCAL.)
The real estate industry is the industry that makes up the LARGEST portion of the GDP.
This so-called settlement only opens the door for a government take-over of our industry.
We need to find a way quit.
If enough quit NAR, they will fold.
OK, I am NOT impressed with Kevin Sears and now Nykia Wright. Kevin should be fired and Nykia should not be in this position. Why can’t we, your paying members pick vote on who should take their positions? Nykia was instrumental in caving and giving into the lawsuit. She was Instrumental in screwing all us members. What other union can you think of that threw ALL their members under the bus? Electrical, Autoworkers, plumbers…nope. They will fight for all them good working people. I wish I knew how to revolt on NAR and get all the good hard working realtors behind my campaign. I was told be a local broker that we ALL should stand up to our local board and NAR and speak up. Fire them all!
Did someone forget to write her real estate credentials (experience). Oh maybe is none.
Congratulations Nykia. I wish you the best of luck as we move forward. You have got this.
Has she ever sold a house ?
Has she ever represented a Buyer?
I have no interest in the NAR. Hoping the next competitor offers a nice ship to board.
So the Titanic just put the iceberg in charge. Nykia is highly qualified but has zero real estate experience and has led the NAR through its largest failure in the industry. The NAR seems to be moving away from its purpose of representing the agents who transact this business and has allowed a cost shift that may make housing even less attainable. Agents and the public need a new advocacy organization.
What bothers me the most is that all of NARs so called “leaders “ have turned the RE Industry upside down and has its focus on SEX…
Same goes for other big corporation’s and Associations…
Honestly, people can govern themselves and we do not need these predators dominating our industry which was once upon a time called the “American Dream”
Now it’s don’t say this/don’t say that primary vs master… local associations pushing inclusion.. (sex) …(groups)… etc…
We have come way off course in what real estate means today…
Our choices have been eliminated for we professionals…in order to have A license.. we have to join fed/state/local organizations or you cannot practice.
The education being another weight bearer …. What are they really pushing? Doesn’t sound much like homeownership for all anymore…
