A North Carolina attorney was sentenced to between 48 and 70 months in prison for his role in a real estate fraud scheme.
WLOS reports Robert P. Tucker II conspired with two other defendants, Ilesanmi Adaramola and Lisa Roberts-Allen, to obtain property from victims by filing false documents in property and court records. As a result of their schemes, the victims lost their homes.
Tucker was convicted of felony obtaining property by false pretenses and conspiracy to obtain property by false pretenses. Adaramola and Roberts-Allen are awaiting trial and face additional notary fraud charges.
The North Carolina Department of the Secretary of State prosecuted the case at the request of the Buncombe County District Attorney’s Office.
“Mr. Tucker took terrible advantage of a homeowner – who formerly worked for the sheriff’s office – and participated in a sophisticated scheme to cheat the victim out of the family home,” said Secretary of State Elaine F. Marshall in a statement. “No one – including an attorney such as Mr. Tucker – is above the law.”
