Canada’s Ottawa Police Service arrested Timothy LaFlamme for running a real estate investment scam.
According to the charges brought against him, LaFlamme is accused of defrauding friends and acquaintances of over $240,000 between December 2023 and September 2024. LaFlamme allegedly approached each victim and enticed them to invest with a company that he presented as being a real estate platform, presenting himself as a qualified investor.
However, LaFlamme took his victims’ money and used it to cover personal expenses and to invest in cryptocurrency. He has been charged with eight counts of fraud over $5,000 and two counts of fraud under $5,000.
The Ottawa Police Service did not identify LaFlamme’s professional credentials. LaFlamme identified himself in a now-deleted LinkedIn account as a “mental health and financial consultant” and there are two YouTube videos where is interviewed in his role as managing director of Serendipity Group.
