A Boston-area real estate investor took to social media to detail how a home seller’s agent refused to do business with him because he drove an automobile from Elon Musk’s Tesla Inc. (NASDAQ: TSLA).

Charles Lamplough, who has 97,500 followers on TikTok, recalled what took place when he turned up at an open house.

“I’m the only one there, so I get this one-on-one attention with the seller’s agent,” Lamplough stated in his online video. “And right away she comes up to me while I’m still in my car – I don’t even make it in the house – and she goes, ‘Nope, turn around. I’m not selling you this house.’ And I’m like, ‘What? Okay, why?’”

The seller’s agent responded that she would not do business with Lamplough because he drives a Tesla and, as Lamplough paraphrased her response, “You support all this, this and that.”

Lamplough noted that he owned the Tesla for over three years and also owns another automobile from a different carmaker. Lamplough then said he located the homeowner online to explain what happened and to express his interest in the property.

“Real estate agents – not always, but a lot of time – are useless, a.k.a. in this case, and now we’re probably just going to a direct sale together,” he continued. “And she just lost out on $25,000.”

Lamplough added the seller “couldn’t be more happy to save some money here” while admitting he was buying the property just to spite the agent.
