Realtor.com has unveiled Renovation Designer, a generative artificial intelligence (AI) design tool to provide users with visualizations of exterior and interior home renovations.
According to the company, the new tool is powered by the residential 3D property data provider Hover and enables homeowners to upload photos of their residence and suggest the changes they want to make. Potential design elements and changes are rendered with high-quality photos, and homeowners can consider alternate options to their current home designs including farmhouse, contemporary and mid-century modern styles.
“Purchasing a home is one of the biggest decisions people will make in their lifetime. When considering renovations, which require both time and money, people should have the information they need to make the best decision for their home,” said Andrew Mattie, senior vice president of engineering at Realtor.com. “Through Renovation Designer, and the power of AI, our users can make well-informed decisions concerning their home renovations with confidence and limit unwanted surprises, like a wall color gone wrong or a flooring choice that doesn’t turn out as expected. We want to enable people to create the home of their dreams and love it.”
That sounds exciting! With today’s young homebuyers sometimes it’s really hard for them to visualize what a home can become with just modest improvements like paint and flooring. I’ll be looking forward to see how this tool can help our business.
What a fantastic idea!
