The private equity executive Bill Pulte is reportedly being considered to become the next Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD).
Pulte is the CEO of Pulte Capital Partners and has gained prominence for his philanthropic endeavors on X (formerly Twitter). His grandfather William Pulte founded the real estate development firm PulteGroup.
Pulte is a longtime supporter of President-elect Donald Trump and appeared on Fox Business Network to criticize Vice President Kamala Harris’ housing plan in the 2024 campaign. The New York Post cited unnamed “members on the transition committee who are advocating” for Pulte’s candidacy. Pulte has engaged in several “conversations” with members of the transition team, the Post coverage added.
Dr. Ben Carson, who served as HUD secretary in the first Trump administration, is reportedly not interested in returning to the position, instead expressing a preference to become Secretary of Health and Human Services.
