Morris Davis, the Paul V. Profeta Chair of Real Estate and academic director of the Center for Real Estate at Rutgers Business School, was appointed to the White House Council of Economic Advisers (CEA) as the nation’s chief housing economist.

In his new role at the CEA, Morris will advise President Trump on housing policies. Davis’ appointment runs through December 2025.

Davis is also an adjunct scholar at the American Enterprise Institute, a senior scholar of the Opportunity and Inclusive Growth Institute of the Federal Reserve Bank of Minneapolis, and an independent director of the AGNC Investment Corp. (NASDAQ: AGNC), a mortgage REIT.  Earlier in his career, he was an economist at the Federal Reserve Board and served as the James A. Graaskamp Chair of Real Estate in the Department of Real Estate at the University of Wisconsin-Madison.

The CEA has approximately 45 members who are charged with providing empirical research to support the president in setting the nation’s economic policy. CEA Chairman Steve Miran said, “Morris will play a pivotal role as we work to build more homes and make housing affordable again for American families, helping to usher in President Trump’s economic Golden Age.”

“It’s an honor to be asked to serve our country,” said Davis. “My goal is to help the president make housing affordable for everyone.”
