The Santa Fe, New Mexico-based compound where Oscar-winning actor Gene Hackman and his wife Betsy Arakawa were found dead last year will be listed for sale at $6.25 million.

The Wall Street Journal reports the 53-acre estate was purchased by Hackman in the 1990s. The bodies of Hackman and Arakawa were found on Feb. 26, with investigators determining the 65-year-old Arakawa died on or around Feb. 11 from hantavirus pulmonary syndrome while the 95-year-old Hackman was believed to have died on Feb. 18 from heart disease with complications from Alzheimer’s disease.

The couple’s personal effects have been removed from the 13,000-square-foot residence, which is being professionally staged for its listing. The listing for the six-bedroom, 10-bathroom home does not mention Hackman, and Tara S. Earley, a listing agent for Sotheby’s International Realty, admitted the property’s history could either work for or against a sale.

“There will be some buyers that are just averse to purchasing a property where a death has occurred,” Earley said. “There are other buyers for whom that doesn’t matter. We are selling the property on its virtues and all of the positives.”
