Sen. Tommy Tuberville (R-AL) announced that he is working with President Trump and Federal Housing Finance Agency Director Bill Pulte to relocate Fannie Mae’s San Francisco office to Alabama.

WBRC reports Tuberville made the announcement on his social media pages, stating that he wanted to see the Fannie Mae office relocated to Birmingham.

“There are great jobs coming to the state that will help reestablish Birmingham as one of the leading financial hubs of the South,” said Tuberville. “We’ll have more announcements soon, but know that my priorities now, and in the coming years will be creating more opportunities to keep our kids in the state, raising the standard of living, all while keeping the cost of living down.”

The relocation of the San Francisco office would most likely occur in the first quarter of 2026, and a search is underway for office space in Birmingham. The San Francisco employees of Fannie Mae would not be required to relocate.

Although Pulte shared a video of Tuberville disclosing the news on his personal X account, there has been no official announcement from Fannie Mae on the relocation. Nor is it clear how many jobs would be created in Alabama with this shift from San Francisco.
