The City of St. Louis, in coordination with Employment Connection, has launched the Impacted Tenants’ Fund to assist eligible city renters who have been forced to relocate if their place of residence was rendered uninhabitable either through condemnation by the City Building Division or damage from the May 16 tornado.
Employment Connection, the vendor for this program, is now accepting applications for one-time financial assistance. Eligible tenants will receive funds for one-time assistance, equal to one month of rent, based on the federal government’s fair market rates established.
“The Board of Aldermen established the Impacted Tenants’ Fund because the city has a responsibility to help tenants who were forced to leave their residences for reasons out of their control,” said Adam Pearson, director of the Department of Human Services. “This fund demonstrates the city’s willingness to assist our neighbors who may have been displaced from their housing through no fault of their own.”
