The Kraft Group has reached an agreement with Boston and its neighboring city of Everett on the creation of a professional soccer stadium for the New England Revolution.

The new 25,000-seat stadium would be constructed on the site of a defunct power plant along the Mystic River in Everett, which is directly north of Boston’s Charlestown neighborhood. WCVB reports the Kraft Group will be responsible for the environmental remediation of the site while investing in traffic and transportation improvements. The company will also be responsible for the costs of all public safety and transportation management expenses involving stadium events,

The Kraft Group, which also owns the New England Patriots, will make an initial payment of $3 million over six years to Boston, which will go into the Charlestown Community Impact Fund. The city will also receive $1 per every soccer ticket sold and 1.5% of every concert ticket sold at the stadium.

Over in Everett, that city will receive an estimated $91.7 million through direct payments, infrastructure investments, and other community benefits. Everett will also receive $2.25 for every ticket sold in the stadium.

The Kraft Group added the stadium will support Everett Public Schools, while both the stadium and a new adjacent waterfront park will be made available for community events.

“These agreements reflect years of collaboration with city leaders and community stakeholders to ensure the project delivers meaningful, lasting benefits for residents while addressing transportation, environmental, and municipal impacts,” said the Kraft Group in a statement. “At its core, this is an investment in Everett and its future.”
