Realtors in the Atlanta metro market are being impersonated by a TikTok account that tries to shakedown unsuspecting renters with upfront fees for properties they do not represent.

Atlanta News First reports at least two realtors had their photos and videos taken without permission by a TikTok account called “Rental Business Hub.” The fake account promotes access to sublease units with “keys in hand” and “no credit check” while demanding a $100 upfront fee.

One of the realtors who was impersonated online was Ashley Williams, who complained to TikTok about the fraud without successfully having the bogus account removed. After several of the impersonator’s victims contacted her, she posted a video on her TikTok account warning viewers that she does not work with renters and does not take applications via the platform.

“I do not want to lose my real estate license,” Williams said in her TikTok video.

However, TikTok finally removed the account within hours of being contacted by Atlanta News First. The identity of the fraudster has yet to be determined.
