Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed Tony Sertich to become the next executive director of the California Housing Finance Agency (CalHFA).

Sertich was most recently the assistant deputy director at the Division of State Financial Assistance at the California Department of Housing and Community Development. He previously served as housing advisor to State Controller Betty Yee from 2018 to 2022. From 2005 to 2018, he held several positions at CalHFA including financing risk manager, director of multifamily programs and director of enterprise risk management and compliance.

“Mr. Sertich knows CalHFA and, even more importantly, knows the state’s housing finance ecosystem from nearly every perspective,” said CalHFA Board Chairman Jim Cervantes. “With CalHFA and its sister agencies moving into a new era under the umbrella of the California Housing and Homelessness Agency, Mr. Sertich’s experience and expertise will be invaluable.”
