Tortoise Properties, a South Florida-based real estate investment and development company, announced the launch of its new real estate brokerage firm, Tortoise Realty Group. The brokerage firm will offer a full range of real estate services, including investment opportunities, acquisitions, dispositions, and leasing assignments – both owner and tenant representation – for commercial and mixed-use properties, focusing on office, residential, and land asset classes.

“The South Florida real estate market continues to see unprecedented growth and expansion outpacing most major metropolitan markets,” said Jake Geleerd, President and CEO Tortoise Properties. “The team we’ve assembled is second-to-none, and the timing is perfect for the marketplace.”

Heading up the new venture is Robert Anderson, an entrepreneur who brings experience and knowledge with a unique vantage point of South Florida. As co-founder and Managing Broker of Tortoise Realty Group, Anderson will develop new business opportunities and oversee the brokerage’s day-to-day operations, ensuring that clients receive the highest level of service and support. Before forming Tortoise Realty Group, Robert was a high-producing Broker Associate at Touchstone Webb Realty Co., a leading commercial agency in the local market. Additionally, Anderson has three decades of deep roots in the business and nonprofit community. He will continue to leverage relationships from his previous leadership roles, including a prominent tech and research agency he built and ran for nearly two decades.

Complementing Robert’s leadership and experience is Clayton Idle, a Managing Director of Tortoise Properties, who brings several years of knowledge and know-how, including high-profile brand and tenant rep relationships. He is well-established in the South Florida business and real estate communities and has a broad sense of the market, properties, business owners, lenders, and more.

Clayton ran the operations for and drove the expansion of South Florida Business & Wealth (SFBW). This Fort Lauderdale-based media company serviced the tri-county market (Miami-Dade, Broward & Palm Beach Counties), catering to senior executives and entrepreneurs in various industries and their business needs. He also held the role of Director of Corporate Partnerships for The Honda Classic, a PGA TOUR event.

Jake Geleerd formed Tortoise Properties with his partner Kelly Brannen in 2017 to focus on the commercial and residential markets in South Florida, now known as the “Wall Street of the South.”

“We are excited to launch Tortoise Realty Group and look forward to providing our clients with value-add service and white glove treatment,” said Robert Anderson. “Our growing team is committed to helping clients achieve their real estate objectives and maximizing their investments. Our customers will reap the rewards of working with experts serving the community for decades.”
