LandTech, the London-based proptech firm that claims to enable property developers of all sizes to identify and assess off-market development opportunities, has expanded to the US, with the goal of helping the country deal with its housing shortage, which it calculates to be four million homes per year.
The company says it is currently used by the UK’s top ten housebuilders and more than two thousand property industry clients, which has resulted in the construction of more than 60,000 UK houses. The software reportedly helps developers find off-market land and enables developers to appraise potential development opportunities and secure funding.
Now the company has opened its first office in Florida with a stateside team that will cover the state from Gainesville to Miami.
“While we’ve chosen Florida as our starting point, it’s just the beginning,” said Jonny Britton, LandTech’s co-founder. “Over time, our vision is to create a suite of data-driven tools that enable real estate stakeholders across the US to build the communities we all desperately need.”
According to the founders, the company was started when Andrew Moist, a software engineer from London and complete novice to property development, was frustrated by having no insights to help him develop a self-build property in Shoreditch. Jonny Britton (former Newcastle-based town planner) answered to his call and the two formed LandTech in 2014.
