The former headquarters of the WWE sports-entertainment empire was sold for $3.75 million to a developer who plans to transform the empty office property into luxury apartments.
The Hartford Business Journal reports the 90,000-square-foot office building in Stamford, Connecticut, was acquired by MB Financial, a development firm focused on multifamily and industrial projects in Connecticut and the Greater Boston area.
The six-story building on a 1.19-acre site was constructed in 1981 along the I-95 corridor and became the WWE’s headquarters in 1991. The company relocated in 2023 to another property in Stamford, where it takes up 400,000 square feet.
The property was last sold in 1997 for $12 million and was appraised in 2023 at $18.1 million. MB Financial CEO and Managing Partner Michael Massimino said his company was “working with some local zoning attorneys, as well as our internal architectural team just doing an assessment of the layout” ahead of the proposed transition to residential usage.
