The deputy chief financial officer of Florida’s Jacksonville Housing Authority has been fired for not showing up to his job.
Action News Jax reported Greg Williams was fired today, roughly one month after he was promoted from comptroller. Williams had been absent without explanation from his job since Tuesday, and this marked the second time since he joined the agency in 2022 that he failed to report for work.
“JHA has terminated Greg Williams’ employment with the agency for failing to report to work,” said the agency in a statement. “JHA does not know why Mr. Williams decided not to return to work.”
This is the leadership tumult Jacksonville Housing Authority. Chief Financial Officer Dennis Lohr resigned two weeks ago, and CEO Dwayne Johnson resigned in January, claiming that Mayor Donna Deegan’s office forced him out of office. The agency is currently the target of three Inspector General investigations and an audit by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. Williams is also reportedly the subject of an ongoing internal financial investigation at the agency.
Vanessa Dunn is now serving as the acting CEO and a recruitment firm was hired to find replacements for Williams and Lohr.
