The case of alleged mortgage fraud by Sen. Adam Schiff (D-CA) has been referred to the Department of Justice (DOJ) for criminal prosecution.
Fox News reports that Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA), sent a letter to Attorney General Pam Bondi and Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche in May regarding Schiff’s citing of a Maryland property as his primary residence while he was serving as part of the California delegation in the House of Representatives.
“Based on media reports, Mr. Adam B. Schiff has, in multiple instances, falsified bank documents and property records to acquire more favorable loan terms, impacting payments from 2003-2019 for a Potomac, Maryland-based property,” Pulte wrote in his letter. “As regulator of Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, and the Federal Home Loan Banks, we take very seriously allegations of mortgage fraud or other criminal activity. Such misconduct jeopardizes the safety and soundness of FHFA’s regulated entities and the security and stability of the U.S. mortgage market.”
Pulte added that Schiff “appears to have falsified records in order to receive favorable loan terms, and also appears to have been aware of the financial benefits of a primary residence mortgage when compared to a secondary residence mortgage.”
Earlier this week, President Trump wrote online that “Fannie Mae’s Financial Crimes Division have concluded that Adam Schiff has engaged in a sustained pattern of possible Mortgage Fraud.” Trump added that Schiff “needs to be brought to justice,” although it is unclear whether the DOJ is pursuing prosecution.
Schiff responded to the accusations by claiming Trump was using the accusations to create a distraction from the growing controversy regarding the DOJ’s handling of the Jeffrey Epstein files.

Congress issued this official statement in regard to Adam Schiff :“AS chair of the House Intelligence Committee, Adam Schiff launched an all-out political campaign built on baseless distortions against a sitting U.S. president, at the expense of every single citizen in this country and the honor of the House of Representatives. With access to sensitive information unavailable to most members of Congress and certainly not accessible to the American people, Schiff abused his privileges, claiming to know the truth while leaving Americans in the dark about his web of lies… lies so severe that they altered the course of the country forever.”
Excellent.News..as Schiff has said “No One is Above ir Outside the Law”
responding to individual claims/instances of alleged abuse for the Dir of the FHFA is like a CEO of a Large Company manning the customer service phone lines every day. The head of these organizations have been appointed (in most cases) to run them, not to respond to each individual claim (that is not the directors job – to police individual claims). This smells and feels a lot like a retribution campaign. It seems that the Dir of FHFA (a close personal friend of trump) has suggested that mortgage fraud is at play with just two individuals (Adam Schiff and Letitia James).
All BS attempt to distract from releasing the Epstein files as he’s all over it. He keeps trying to distract. So gross PT. 🤮 The victims need justice.
What aboaut Trump mrtgage faud?
So many Republicans have committed voter fraud by being residents of one state and voting in another. This attack on Schiff is another way to misdirect attention away from the fact that Trump has stalled the economy, and it is far below the Biden economy now and still on shaky ground as the tariffs keep TACO-ing and the debt climbs steadily higher under the new Trump bill passed with only the GOP’s support and ZERO Democrats.
Pulte says that “media reports” claim that Schiff committed mortgage fraud.
What Pulte meant by “media” is simply the usual right wing media (Fox News and such) that pump out lie after lie half baked as some kind of evidence when there is none, only later to be found to be lying wholesale. But, the endless propaganda works by distracting the public from the reality that Trump, himself, and his cronies have stolen billions from the Public and have violated the emoluments clause.
Trump demands pay to play, and pay to him especially. He has gone from being in big debt for his many crimes, convictions, and court settlements to being a Billionaire overnight, and that is how corruption works on a huge scale. Compare that to any tiny interest savings Schiff might have obtained (if that claim were true). This attack on Schiff is laughable, especially compared to the massive GOP scams taking place now.
Every GOP President that has been supported by GOP controlled congresses have pushed through massive tax breaks for the very rich, minor chump breaks for the middle class, and then slashing aid to the most vulnerable, poor, and disabled, including veterans. This has been the patten from Nixon, to Reagan, to Bush I and Bush II and now Trump.
The national debt has soared far higher every time that Republican Presidents have managed to get a majority in Congress. They ruin the economy, start wars that we have lost each time costing thousands of lives and billions in wasted dollars while building more foreign enemies. The GOP’s grift creates a crappy economy that is foisted onto a Democratic President, and if the Democrats manage to get a majority in Congress, then a long economic healing process starts under Democrats.
Just when the economy is getting back to health, the GOP lies about how terrible the economy is and wins seats in Congress and even the Presidency, and the looting begins again. The GOP loves to crash the economy so that their Billionaire members can pick up properties for low prices while leaving typical Americans in deeper debt, sometimes homeless.
NAR has aggressively supported Trump and the MAGA fascist politics. I am forced to give a portion of my dues to the political fund (or the general political fund), but when I have asked for where those donations go and to whom, I am repeatedly blocked by NAR and their state associations when I ask for details.
No Realtor should be forced to donate their dues to any political effort. Realtors should donate their own money to whom and to what they wish to donate and IF they wish to donate.
NAR was thrilled that the Big Ugly Massive Debt and Make America Ill Bill was passed because NAR is big business that gets lots of advantages with the GOP, unfair advantages that harm most Americans. Gutting clean energy has put many Americans out of work, including many who supported Trump. RFK claims he wants to make American healthy, so he bans red dye in foods, but he says ZERO about Trump (once again) allowing a massive increase in pollution from various companies, thus we will suffer more disease and cancer causing chemicals in our air, food, soil, and water, such things as more lead, more arsenic, more mercury, more cancer causing by-products.
NAR requires CEU classes on potential risks to home buyers (lead, asbestos, radon, etc), YET, NAR supports Trump and MAGA which will mean far more pollution, not just inside one home, or a few homes, but in the general environment that affects us all, including children who are susceptible while in utero and when young. But NAR cares nothing about that widespread and impossible to contain pollution that will be everywhere.
Harassment against protected classes???
NAR recently changed its code of ethics to roll back harassment policies on Realtors so that Realtors NOW will be free to harass during their NON-business time, which is perfect for the many right wing Realtors who can promote brutal and even bigoted policies on their personal time, even supporting MAGA and Trump which support overt racism, intimidation, and terrorism on the U.S., and now that is OK with NAR.
NAR is beyond hypocritical, pretending to be “Fair and Non-bigoted” while actively supporting fascism and racism by supporting Trump and MAGA (paid for with a portion of our yearly funds). Now the new NAR policy allows a giant loophole for right wing Realtors to bloviate their fascist views, as long as they do NOT do that “in the active course of their real estate duties”, but any other time, sure, go be an open bigot.
What a load of crap!
Prior comment regarding NAR, politics, and a portion of our annual dues.
NAR is the 2nd highest funder of political efforts and politicians, and they boast about their influence, influence paid for with our annual dues (a portion of them).
Realtors should be very concerned about NAR and our state associations using a portion of our dues for political purposes. Firstly, Real Estate related topics is an enormous umbrella that pretty much takes in the entire planet because everything can impact real estate, even crops (not real estate) because crops use so much water and some farming types can damage soils (real real estate).
NAR generally leans heavily towards the GOP and its further shift to the right.
However, NAR does sometimes give money to Democratic candidates, but that is only as a hedge bet, to support certain Democrats who will (generally) support NARs policies, such as supporting Democrats who give support to Big Ag, Big Oil, and Big Developers. Newsom as California’s governor was a trifecta on those counts.
While I may support some NAR political positions, I do not feel that a portion of my dues should go to political causes, lobbying, nor political candidates. I want to donate on my own to the causes and politicians that I support.
I really hate much of what NAR supports, which is UNlimited development, paving over our best agricultural lands for yet more housing, stealing public lands to build more housing, gutting environmental protections so that businesses can get rich and trash the environment, and lobbying to use taxpayer funds that support greatly over-priced, newly built, (supposedly) low income and affordable housing, thus subsidizing mostly developers who benefit by vastly increased densities and dramatically reduced planning codes, such as lower parking requirements, low or no yard spaces, low or no parkland fees to compensate for the increased density, with some projects allowed to drop all CAR parking space requirements and substitute it with ONE single bicycle parking spot PER housing unit!!! That is so insane. And it’s harming the quality of life and driving up costs in many cities.
NAR loves these VERY developer friendly and highly profitable low income housing projects that cost taxpayers a boat load of money and do very little to actually solve any housing shortage.
And NAR tells contradictory stories about housing shortages.
NAR kept claiming that people were fleeing California in droves to go to lower cost states and that California’s population was plummeting alarmingly, but then NAR also claimed that there was a housing shortage in California. How could both claims be true!
If everyone was fleeing, wouldn’t there be a surplus of housing, or at least falling home prices???? That is how the lie is revealed.
The reality is that Realtors (and others) had always promised that if you buy in nice places (most of California) and as California’s population rose higher, then prices would rise higher, and that would be a great investment because property values would always rise over spans of time (which they did). And now Realtors are complaining that the results they promised (higher prices) have been achieved. Well, some of the lucky early in buyers did sell and take their profits to buy in lower cost states, but it was only a few hundred thousand people leaving California over the course of several years, so the population of California has bounced up and down in recent years in the mid to high 39 million. California actually gained more people from Idaho who moved to California than was the number of Californians who moved to Idaho. But NAR doesn’t talk about that reality.
NAR paints contradictory stories to push its politics (paid for by us).
Julie Fisher you nailed it. Could not have conveyed the double standard and criminality of this administration better. Always trying to distract us from their theft and cruel lack of morality.
