President Trump has declared Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) Director Bill Pulte will serve as Acting Director of National Intelligence (DNI) for “a month or two months or something” with the ability to “declassify almost everything.”
Politico reports Trump added that Jay Clayton, his pick to become the next DNI, will have a Senate hearing in two weeks. Trump abruptly cancelled Clayton’s hearing last month only a few hours before it was slated to begin.
“Bill is there just for a fairly short period of time,” Trump told reporters about Pulte, who is also maintaining his FHFA role and his jobs as chairman of Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac during this period. “But while he’s there, I said you can declassify whatever you want.”
