The number crunchers at WalletHub are back with a new data analysis, this time with a ranking of the Best Real Estate Markets in 2026.

For this report, WalletHub compared 300 cities across 17 key metrics including median home price appreciation, housing affordability, and the local economic environment. Texas and North Carolina markets dominated the top 10 section of the new list, with Frisco, Texas, ranked number one.

WalletHub praised the Dallas metro area-based Frisco for having “the highest share of houses that were built between 2010 and 2024, at nearly 47%,” as well as having “the seventh-best job growth rate in the country, which helps attract new residents to its growing housing market.”

Another Texas city, McKinney, placed second, with WalletHub noting it had “the second-highest share of houses that were built between 2010 and 2024, at roughly 40%, which means that new buyers have a lot of options for houses that may not need major maintenance for a while.” McKinney is also home to the sixth-highest job growth rate in the nation, at over 17% annually.”

Rounding out the top 10 locations for the Best Real Estate Markets of 2026 were Murfreesboro, Tennessee; Durham, North Carolina; Denton, Texas; Cary, North Carolina; Madison, Wisconsin; Allen, Texas; Charlotte, North Carolina; and Irvine, California.

At the bottom of the list, New Orleans ranked 300th. Two other Louisiana cities occupied places at the low end of the rankings, Shreveport at 298th and Baton Rouge at 297th.
