Home sales and prices were on the downturn in Alabama during October, according to the new data from the Alabama Association of Realtors.
The state recorded 4,880 home sales in October, an 8.6% drop from September decrease from the 5,340 transactions in September and a 12.8% decrease from the 5,596 sales in October 2023. This occurred while the 19,329 active listings at the end of October marked a 2.7% uptick from the previous month and a 32.6% spike from one year ago.
The median sales price decreased by 2.1% from $224,812 in September to $220,196 in October. However, the median sales prices were up by 6.7% from the $206,317 price recorded one year earlier.
Alabama also experienced 432 foreclosures in October, a 0.7% dip from the previous month and a 14.5% year-over-year drop.
