The American Real Estate Association (AREA) has announced it has integrated the New York Residential Agent Continuum (NYRAC) into its organization as its first local chapter.
“This marks a major step forward in strengthening our mission to serve and support real estate professionals across the industry,” said AREA co-founders Jason Haber and Mauricio Umansky in a press statement. “By bringing NYRAC into our organization, we are combining our shared values and goals to amplify our collective impact.”
NYRAC promotes itself on its website as an advocate for the “fundamental improvements in how we conduct business, knowing that such improvements ultimately benefit the consumer. Our organization provides networking and educational opportunities for the top transacting residential real estate sales agents in New York City, who understand and appreciate the importance of ethics and professional business conduct, and are committed to helping build a stronger community.”
Today’s announcement is the first major news from AREA, which has kept a low profile since last fall. In September, it detailed a 2025 agenda that was going to include the hiring of an executive director, a political director, and external lobbyists focused on “every level of government,” along with a campaign to “educate the public about how we help buyers and sellers across America.” In October, it sought input from real estate professionals to become involved in a potential class action lawsuit against the National Association of Realtors’ Clear Cooperation Policy – to date, that lawsuit has not been filed.
