The start-up American Real Estate Association (AREA) has provided an update on its activities.
According to an email from co-founders Jason Haber and Mauricio Umansky, the organization now has members in 43 states, although it did not provide a number for how many people have signed up for membership.
“We have a lot of exciting initiatives lined up,” Haber and Umansky said in their email. “In 2025, we plan to hire an executive director, a political director, and external lobbyists to advocate for our interests at every level of government. We’re also revamping our website and developing new messaging to educate the public about how we help buyers and sellers across America.”
The AREA website also stated plans for a national multiple listing service and a slate of “interactive online courses, immersive in-person training sessions, and a wealth of resources designed to elevate industry standards.” However, no details or timelines were provided on either of those efforts.
“This rapid growth is just the beginning, and with your continued support, we can make this new trade group a powerful force within the real estate industry,” said Haber and Umansky. “We have ambitious plans, and we need your help to bring them to life.”
What about a board of directors! Will the organization be a 5013C non for profit?
Do we really need a national association of any kind? May be it should be left to each state, after all Realtors already pay numerous fees to their state & local boards. May be the push from the NAR globalists is to go international? AREA may be in it only for the $ — what truly distinguishes them from NAR? What viable benefits will AREA provide realtors? What do Realtors want/need from an org like NAR, AREA?
There are too many unknowns about AREA for me to want to join today. AREA needs to step it up if they want to attract membership between now and when NAR memberships renew.
Will they have a code of ethics? standard of practices? procedures? services they will provide? benefits to members? mission statement? goals? ….. so many questions …
