The Building Owners and Managers Association (BOMA) International has released its latest floor measurement standard for office buildings.
The BOMA 2024 Office Standard includes many new features, enhancements, and clarifications since the last update was published in 2017. The standard is intended exclusively for office buildings, including commercial, medical, institutional, and life science properties. It can be used for single tenant, multi-tenant, or multi-building configurations, and is suitable for measuring new, existing, and proposed office buildings.
The measurement standard is designed to calculate Rentable Area, a crucial metric in office leasing. It is also designed to provide figures useful for space utilization analysis, valuation, benchmarking, and allocating building expenses across different cost centers.
