Construction on the nation’s first Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) building for the blind community has been completed.in Chicago.
McShane Ashlaur Joint Venture – a partnership between McShane Construction Company and Ashlaur Construction – have concluded the construction of The Foglia Residences for clients Brinshore Development and The Chicago Lighthouse. The multifamily development is based on a site adjacent to The Chicago Lighthouse’s center in the Illinois Medical District.
The new property encompasses 76 affordable units for residents who are blind, visually impaired, disabled, and veterans. The podium-style building features nine stories with three levels of parking, six levels of units, and first-floor retail space. Units are offered in studio, one-, and two-bedroom floorplans that provide accessible, independent living for qualifying low-income households.
