A Detroit woman who conducted business as an unlicensed real estate agent pled no contest to one felony and two misdemeanors.

According to office of Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel, Krystal Davis was operating Card Property Management LLC, when she entered into a contract with the owner of two residential properties in Detroit to provide property management services, including determining rental rates, marketing the properties, selecting tenants, collecting rent, and handling evictions.

However, Davis did not have a state license to work as a real estate broker or a real estate salesperson, as would be required by law to furnish such services. Nor was her company licensed to provide real estate services.

Davis also presented herself as a certified public accountant (CPA) when soliciting tax preparation business. Davis is not licensed in Michigan as a CPA.

Davis’ plea to one count of Accounting Violations-Unlicensed CPA and two counts of Occupational Code-Unlicensed Real Estate Agent accompanies a sentencing agreement extended by the court, stipulating an expected sentence of 18 to 24 months’ probation. She will be sentenced on July 15.

“Michigan residents deserve peace of mind knowing the professionals they rely on for business and financial guidance are licensed and qualified,” Nessel said. “My office remains committed to safeguarding consumers by investigating and prosecuting those who breach the public’s trust by operating without necessary licenses.”
