Flume Water, a provider of smart water monitoring solutions, was selected by the Water Research Foundation (WRF) to conduct the Residential End Uses of Water Study, Version 3.
According to a statement from the company, this research project “will be the largest and most significant residential end-use study ever conducted in North America with over 50 utility partners.” The study will explore water usage in over 100,000 single-family and multifamily households in the U.S. and Canada while evaluating the efficiency of water use and how use patterns have changed over the past 25 years.
The study will also compare indoor and outdoor residential water use across housing types and geographies, with the goal of understanding residential water demands and usage trends. The company added the research will help the public and private sectors in their future planning, program and product development.
The new study will update the data compiled in WRF’s 1999 and 2016 Residential End Uses of Water studies.
“We are honored to have been selected by the Water Research Foundation to conduct the Residential End Uses of Water Study, Version 3,” said Eric Adler, CEO of Flume. “Flume is uniquely positioned to perform this study based on our extensive water data collection, which gives us unprecedented insight into the water use patterns of North American households. This study is critical for ensuring long-term sustainability and community resilience, and we are proud to contribute to this vital effort.”
