David Benson, the former president of Fannie Mae (OTCQB: FNMA), is rejoining the government-sponsored enterprise in the capacity of a senior adviser.

Bill Pulte, director of the Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) and the self-appointed chairman of Fannie Mae, made the announcement on his personal X account. There was no official announcement on either the Fannie Mae or FHFA websites.

Pulte did not elaborate what duties Benson will be handling at Fannie Mae. Benson was president of Fannie Mae from August 2018 until he stepped down in November 2023 in favor of Priscilla Almodovar, whose departure as president and CEO was announced by Pulte last week.

Benson is currently on the board of directors at the real estate fintech Opendoor and at Essent Group Ltd., a Bermuda-headquartered holding company offering various insurance products to the housing finance sector.
