High-profile real estate investor Grant Cardone has inserted himself into the contentious New York City mayoral race by claiming his offer to assist Andrew Cuomo’s struggling campaign in his fight against Democratic Socialist Zohran Mamdani was rejected.

In a post on X, Cardone stated, “I offered to help Andrew Cuomo in his run for New York City Mayor and he didn’t accept my help. His poll numbers are going down. Should I help @CurtisSliwa?”

Cuomo, a former Housing and Urban Development secretary, is seeking a political comeback after resigning as New York governor in 2021 amid a sexual harassment scandal. While Cuomo was defeated by Mamdani in last month’s Democratic Party primary, he is still seeking the mayor’s office as an independent candidate.

Cardone, a Florida resident who has publicly mused about running for governor of California, also posted a Quinnipiac University poll’s results that showed Mamdani leading at 46% among voters with Cuomo in second at 33% and Sliwa, the Republican Party’s candidate, at 15%.

Cardone’s tweet was answered by hedge fund executive Bill Ackman, who wrote, “We need you to help Andrew.” Cardone replied to Ackman, “I tried & he didn’t accept the help. Shocking!!!!”

Since Mandani became the Democratic nominee for mayor, Cardone posted multiple memes and messages criticizing him, as the “most dangerous man in America” while urging voters to back Cuomo. Cardone, who is a vocal supporter of President Trump, never explained why he was shunning the Republican Sliwa in favor of Cuomo, a longtime political foe of the president.
