Since the pandemic started, Maine’s population has jumped thousands with more than 16,000 people in 2020 and an additional 10,000 people in 2021, according to the U.S. Census Bureau.

“Maine is on the map,” Aaron Bolster, the 2021 president of the Maine Association of Realtors said. “It’s been fascinating to watch and Maine is definitely becoming more of a diverse state.”

Bolster believes this increase is partially due to people working remotely; they have the ability to move to a more rural state like Maine, while keeping their bigger city salary.
